Job Opening: Operations Manger
Full-Time Non-Exempt

The Transgender Law Center is a groundbreaking civil rights organization working throughout California to ensure that all of us are able to fully and freely express our gender identities. Every day we connect transgender people and their families to technically sound and culturally competent legal services, increase acceptance and enforcement of laws and policies that support California's transgender communities, and work to change laws and systems that fail to incorporate the needs and experiences of transgender people.

We are seeking a non-profit office manager with initiative, drive, and a passion for ensuring the efficient operation of our office. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day administrative functions. Candidates must be able to effectively handle a variety of tasks and work independently, while also working as part of a team. Responsibilities: The Operations Manager will be responsible for supervising a administrative staff and volunteers, as applicable; creating and managing office systems, such as donor database, phone systems, and computer networks; and providing administrative support to the Executive Director and Legal Director.

Responsibilities by Function:

Administration & Operations

  • Oversee development of organization's technological infrastructure and office systems.

  • Create and manage system to maintain TLC's administrative and legal files.
  • Track employee payroll processing and benefits.
  • Provide customer service to community members contacting TLC via phone or office visits.
  • Support financial management, including data entry for accounts receivable and payable.

Development

  • Track donor and member information.

  • Update TLC's online presence.
  • Oversee donor mailings and year-end appeals.
  • Help organize donor-related events.

Contract Management

  • Manage grantor contracts and reimbursement requests.

  • Track deadlines for grant applications and reports.
  • Maintain files for grantor contracts and reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the mission of the Transgender Law Center.

  • Previous administrative experience in an office environment.
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to read and write English clearly.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast paced and diverse community environment.
  • Ability to work and manage time independently on both assigned and self-initiated tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or two years of experience in office management, finance management, and/or donor relations.

  • Previous non-profit experience.

Annual salary range: $33,000 - $38,000 DOE
